Hope to see you there!
Please help us finish the fantastic addition and re-route that has been added to Torn Shirt. We will have two back-to-back trail days on Saturday and Sunday, from 9am-1pm both days. You’ll be helping us add the finishing touches to this new section. Tools will be provided. Show up at the trailhead.
Join us for the Grand Opening of the first 5 mile loop of this highly-anticipated new mountain bike trail (also open to foot travel) at Waterloo State Recreation Area. Be among the first to use this state-of-the-art, modern and sustainable trail, built using “flow trail” construction. We will also be revealing the rebranding of the trail to the community, including a new trail name and logo.
Meet at the trailhead (west off M-52, 5 miles north of Chelsea and 1/2 mile south of North Territorial Rd) at 10:45am for the 11:00am trail dedication and ribbon cutting, followed immediately by the inaugural 5 mile ride/hike/run on the new trail.
Bottled water and cookies will be provided.
REI will be on site offering light mechanical support beginning at 9:30am. If you need air in your tires, lubrication on your chain, saddle position adjustment, etc., just come out early and REI will be there to help you before the ride.
Immediately after, we will continue the celebration at Chelsea Alehouse with lunch and beverages. A celebration cake will be provided by Potawatomi Mountain Biking Association.
Can’t make it out that early? Join us for an after work ride, hike, or run!
Meet at the new trailhead at 6:00pm for a 6:15pm departure. We will follow up the evening ride/hike/run with pizza and beverages at Jet’s Pizza in Chelsea. After ride cake will be provided by Potawatomi Mountain Biking Association.
We’d like to announce Wolverine State Brewing Co. as the official sponsor of Poto Chapter meetings and our beer sponsor for Triple Trail Challenge and other events this year. They have been great supporters for the local mountain biking community over the last couple of years, and this most recent commitment really solidifies our strong, ongoing relationship with them. Please return their generosity by buying their products and visiting their taproom as often as possible!
Please come out to build new trail at Rolling Hills Park in Ypsilanti Township on Saturday, Oct 3, 9:00 AM to 1 PM. We will be cutting new trail in the E-W tree line south of the soccer fields to connect the North Meadow loop back to the West Meadow loop at the kettle pond. This tree line is ~1/4 mile long and will replace the adjacent E-W paved path immediately S of the sports fields.
Let’s plan to meet at 9 AM in the “sports field” lot in the middle of the northern side of the park road. The work area is only few yards away! Please bring work gloves and sturdy shoes, wear long pants to protect from thorns and bring any good work tools that you might have (lopper, pruning shears,…). If anyone is attending the RHP front gate, let them know that you are entering to work on the MTB trail and they should let you in without charge. If enough people commit in advance, I’ll arrange some pizza and “refreshment” or something for lunch.

We are on as scheduled for Saturday. Riders may start any time from 7:00 until 10:00 am (although a later start would be advisable). The morning might be a bit damp but the afternoon is looking great, and the forecast is improving hourly. Food and beer will begin at 1:00 pm, and we will ensure that both will be available for the riders who start later in the morning.
See you there in the morning!
Trail Day Thursday is on as the weather will cooperate once again!
Last week we had the brush mower out and cleared a path from the gate all the way to the current work area which is in the range of a mile+. You can follow that path if you show up and there are also flags marking the way. About a 15-20 minute walk. We have more corridor to cut and clear of brush, so come on out to help.
When: This will occur every Thursday until further notice as long as the weather is good.
Where: The Trail head on M52 just south of Roe/N Territorials roads.
Time: 4pm-7ish, but you can show up anytime after 4pm and stay as little or long as you want. It all adds up!
We will have a whiteboard with details on where we are that day posted at one of the cars or gate.
•Fun and knowing you will be part of a great new trail system that will become a Destination Trail!
•Safety: Work smart, safety glasses, gloves, long sleeves and pants, bug spray, water, etc
•Completing the DNR Volunteer Waiver Form (we have some on site)
•No bandit or rogue trail builders! We must coordinate our trail days and work with the DNR
If you want additional information please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org

See you Thursday(s)!
Please join us for our July Chapter Meeting. We’ll be discussing Waterloo updates, Torn Shirt re-routes, Bright Rec Festival and more!
Where: Arbor Brewing Company, 14 E Washington St, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104
When: Wednesday, July 29th, 7:30 p.m.
Please come out for a trail maintenance day at Rolling Hills Park in Ypsilanti Township on Saturday, Aug 1, 8:30 AM to 2 PM. With the repetitive summer rain/sun cycle, the meadow grasses and face slappers are growing rapidly so they need attention to keep the trail rideable. We will trim Miles 2 and 3 (crater at end of Mile 1 to the L turn on the W fence line heading to the west meadows), again mow the west and north meadows and trim the Munger Mounds.
Instead of the traditional trail head parking lot, let’s plan to meet in the “sports field” lot in the middle of the northern side of the park road. Let’s plan to start earlier than normal at 8:30 AM to beat the heat as much as possible. Please bring work gloves, sturdy shoes and bug juice, wear long pants to protect from thorns and bring any good work tools that you might have (lopper, pruning shears,…). If anyone is attending the RHP front gate, let them know that you are entering to work on the MTB trail and they should let you in without charge. If enough people commit in advance, I’ll arrange some pizza and “refreshment” or something for lunch.

Poto trail maintenance opportunity this Wednesday at 4:00. Meet at the trailhead parking lot and be part of history by removing some of the ancient landscape fabric and replacing it with a more sustainable solution! Hope to see you there.
